Over the past 16 years as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), I have helped numerous couples and families work through various relational and emotional intimacy challenges. I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). In that capacity, I work significantly, but not exclusively, with males struggling with sexually compulsive behaviors along with their spouses, partners, families and others impacted by their unhealthy and problematic choices. I have been described as a ‘Perspectivist Therapist’ due to my clear, honest, open, respectful and natural ability to help people gain perspective about their problems, increase hopeful belief for their future and establish realistic expectations about the journey. Previously I spent 8½ years at Psychological Counseling Services (PCS) in Scottsdale, AZ working in private practice and as a member of the PCS Intensive Outpatient Program treatment team. Prior to PCS I worked for 2½ years as a primary therapist in Hattiesburg, MS at Gentle Path, an in-patient treatment center for Sexual Addiction. There, I trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes, a renowned expert and author on Sexual Addiction. I received my graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern Mississippi and my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University.
Additionally, I have completed an Externship in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples and initial training in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy). In my career, I have often guest interviewed on TV and radio, written for counselor/therapy publications and been a presenter locally and nationally. Most importantly, I have been married for 19 years to my wife, Dyan, and together we are the parents of 5 boys!
Sexual addiction is a complex addiction, but there is hope! As a trained Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I have completed training developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, which required attendance at multiple training modules and supervision by a CSAT Supervisor. It also requires ongoing education so that CSATs such as myself are experts in providing sexual addiction therapy. It is a rigorous process designed to help me best help my clients.
